"There is a way of doing yoga poses, that
we call asanas, without the slightest effort.
Movement is the song of the body. Yes the
body has it's song from which the movement
arises spontaneously...............
This song if you care to listen to it is
beauty."
Vanda Scaravelli
from her book "Awakening the Spine"

Inspired by the yoga of Vanda Scaravelli and  Diane Long  who emphasise the use of the breath to
undo tension in the body and to allow the natural elongation of the spine, Lai's own evolving, original
style, is an approach to yoga that places an emphasis on quality of movement above achievement of
postures.

As we work intelligently to free the spine we can explore ways to create balance and lightness in our
movements and allow the flow of energy through the spine, creating more subtle awareness.

These movement principles help to re-align the pelvis and the spine, creating a framework for the
discovery of joyful, light movement and  encouraging a deeper energetic connection to the earth.

With awareness of gravity and our energetic connection to the Earth our yoga practice can be
enhanced and deepened. When the pelvis is balanced we experience a new freedom in the upper
body which encourages the Heart to open naturally. We can learn to listen to "the song of the body"
and move with more fluidity and balance.

Lai works as much as possible individually and uses hands-on assistance based on what she
observes in the students' body. This intuitive attention assists the student  to experience a new
freedom in their body and range of movement.
